A licensed animal health worker, to your boma.
When an animal goes down, the hard part is not knowing what is wrong. It is finding someone qualified, today, who will actually come. Boma Vet finds them, shows you the price before you agree, and keeps a record of everything they did.

Three things go wrong between a sick animal and a qualified person.
Distance eats the day
The nearest qualified practitioner may be an hour away and already booked. Farmers phone around, wait, and phone again. Nobody can tell them who is actually free right now.
Waiting costs more than the visit
A condition that was treatable on the first morning becomes a dead animal, a dry cow, or a whole flock by the third day. The delay is usually the most expensive part.
You cannot tell who is qualified
Anyone can arrive with a syringe and a confident manner. Wrong drugs and wrong doses cost the farmer twice, and the residues end up in milk and meat that other people buy.
Four steps, from a sick animal to a written record.
Say what you can see
Pick the animal and tap the signs — not eating, swollen stomach, limping, milk dropped. Pictures and words, in Kiswahili or English. No typing needed.
Find out how urgent it is
Boma Vet tells you whether this can wait, and what to do in the meantime. Sometimes the honest answer is that a phone call will do and you do not need to pay for a visit.
Choose someone and see the price
Licensed practitioners near you, with their distance, their rating and their call-out fee. You agree the price before anyone travels. You pay by M-Pesa.
Keep the record
What was found, what was given, and how long before you can sell the milk again. It stays on your animal's record — the history a lender or an insurer will ask you for.
One app for the whole animal's life, not just the emergency.
Boma Vet is being built as a livestock health record you keep for years: every animal, every vaccination and deworming, every visit and every treatment — with the reminders and the milk-withdrawal countdowns that are easy to forget. Asking for a vet is just one button inside it.
- A lifetime record for every animal. Vaccinations, deworming, treatments, breeding, daily milk — from birth to sale, with reminders so nothing slips.
- Chat with your vet on the visit. Messages and photos, saved straight to the animal's record.
- Find a licence-checked vet, fee shown up front. Or send one request and every verified practitioner nearby sees it — emergencies first.
- Print a Health Passport. The full treatment and production history a cooperative, lender or insurer can actually trust.
- Built for the boma, not the office. Light on data, keeps working when the signal drops, and warns you until every milk-withdrawal period has passed.
The demo is a working walk-through with sample data — no account, no charges, nothing sent. Best opened on a phone.

Nobody works on Boma Vet without a checked licence.
Every vet surgeon and every animal health technician on the platform has had their registration checked, by a person, against the Kenya Veterinary Board register — before they can accept a single job. We re-check it every year.
The app also keeps a vet surgeon's work and a paraveterinarian's work separate, the way the Veterinary Surgeons and Paraveterinarians Act requires. A farmer can always see which one is coming.
Checked before they start
Registration number verified against the Board's register. No number, no work.
Withdrawal periods, tracked
When an animal is treated, the app counts the days until its milk or meat is safe to sell — and warns you until it is.
More farm calls. Less unpaid travelling.
If you are registered with the Kenya Veterinary Board and working in Machakos, we want you in the pilot.
Work that comes to you
Requests from farmers inside the radius you set, with the symptoms, the herd size and the history already written down before you decide whether to travel.
You set your own fee
Your call-out fee is yours. Distance beyond 10 km is charged on top, so you are not swallowing the journey. We take 10%, and only when you have been paid.
Your licence, shown properly
Farmers see that you are registered and whether you are a surgeon or a technician. It is a way to compete with the people who are not.
It has to work on a feature phone, or it does not work.
A farmer with a basic handset and 2G will be able to dial a short code to ask for a visit, check a reminder, or hear about a vaccination day. Reminders arrive by SMS.
This part is not built yet. It is scheduled after the first pilot, because a short code takes weeks to provision and we would rather prove the rest first.
Until then, a farmer without a smartphone can still reach us: call or WhatsApp 0737 819 908 and we will arrange the visit for you.

After a treatment there is a window where milk and meat are not safe to sell. Why it matters, and how a record keeps you from losing a whole can at the cooler.

Newcastle can wipe out a whole flock of indigenous chickens in days. The good news is that prevention is cheap, and a simple schedule is most of the battle.

The service is live and free for farmers — open the app to request a visit. You can also leave your details here and we will contact you, either to bring the service to your area, or to sign you up as a practitioner.
Your name and phone number are stored so we can contact you about the pilot. They are not sold, not shared with anyone outside Boma Vet, and not used for anything else. Email info@bomavet.co.ke and we will delete them.
